Privacy Policy for Tithi

Tithi (“Tithi,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a Hindu calendar mobile application operated by Shiachi.co, an individual based in Gurugram, India. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Tithi, you agree to this Policy.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive basic profile information such as your name, email address, and a unique account identifier, used to create and secure your account. We store authentication tokens in encrypted storage on your device.

Your content. Calendars, events, reminders, and related details you create are stored on your device and synced to our servers so they are available across your sessions. We do not sell your event content.

Location (optional). If you grant permission, we use your device’s approximate or precise location to calculate accurate tithi, sunrise, and sunset times for where you are. Location is used for these calculations and is not used to track you over time. If you decline, Tithi uses a default reference location (Ujjain) and the app remains fully usable.

Diagnostics and usage data. We use Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, and Performance Monitoring) to understand how the app is used, diagnose crashes, and improve performance. This may include device model, operating-system version, app version, crash logs, and in-app events. This data is used in aggregate.

Notifications. If you enable notifications, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver daily summaries and reminders. You can turn notifications off at any time in the app or your device settings.

Advertising. Tithi is free and is supported by advertisements served through Google AdMob. We currently serve only non-personalized (contextual) ads — ads that are not based on a profile of your interests or past behavior. To deliver these ads, prevent fraud, cap how often an ad is shown, and measure performance, Google may still collect limited information such as your device’s advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID or Apple’s Identifier for Advertisers), IP address, coarse location derived from your IP address, device and operating-system information, and general ad-interaction data. We do not use this data to build interest profiles or to target you with interest-based advertising. Ads are provided by Google, not by us; see Section 8 for the choices you have.

2. How we use your information

  • To provide and sync the calendar, events, and reminders.
  • To calculate location-based tithi, sunrise, and sunset (with your permission).
  • To send notifications you have enabled.
  • To maintain security, prevent abuse, and operate your account.
  • To analyze usage, fix crashes, and improve the app.
  • To display advertising that keeps the app free and to measure its performance.

3. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:

  • Service providers who operate the app on our behalf — Google (Sign-In, Firebase) and Apple (Sign in with Apple) — who process data under their own terms and privacy policies.
  • Advertising. To show non-personalized ads, Google AdMob receives the limited advertising and device information described in Section 1. Google processes this data as an independent controller under its own policies. Because our ads are non-personalized, we do not share your data for interest-based (targeted) advertising.
  • Legal and safety purposes, when required by law or to protect rights and safety.

Relevant third-party policies: Google Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy), how Google uses information from apps that use its services (policies.google.com/technologies/partners), Google AdMob / Ads (policies.google.com/technologies/ads), and Apple Privacy Policy (apple.com/legal/privacy).

4. Data retention

We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account or request deletion, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.

5. Your rights and choices

  • Access, correction, deletion: Request a copy, correction, or deletion of your data by emailing support@shiachi.co.
  • Delete your account: Use the in-app account option or contact us.
  • Permissions: Control location and notification permissions in your device settings at any time.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including encrypted on-device token storage and secure transport, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

7. Children’s privacy

Tithi is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact support@shiachi.co and we will delete it. We do not knowingly allow interest-based (personalized) advertising to be shown to children, and we configure our ad requests accordingly.

8. Advertising and your choices

Tithi shows non-personalized ads through Google AdMob to keep the app free. Because our ads are not based on your interests, we do not use your data for targeted advertising. You still have the following controls:

  • Reset or limit your advertising ID. On Android, go to Settings → Google → Ads to reset your advertising ID or turn on “Delete advertising ID.” On iOS, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising to control tracking and advertising.
  • App Tracking Transparency (iOS). We do not track you across other companies’ apps and websites for advertising. If Apple’s tracking prompt appears, declining it does not change the ads you see, which remain non-personalized.
  • EEA, UK, and Switzerland. Where required, we present a consent request (via Google’s consent management platform) before ads are served. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time in the app’s privacy or settings screen.
  • Learn more. You can review Google’s ad practices at policies.google.com/technologies/ads and adjust Google-wide ad settings at adssettings.google.com. Should we ever introduce personalized ads, we will update this Policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.

9. International users

We are based in India and may process data in India and in countries where our service providers operate. By using Tithi you consent to such processing.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, provide additional notice.
